    HI Andy,
Brian Liporto is my daughter’s HS band director and he mentioned he contacted you! Meg’s applying to schools and auditioning as a Music Ed major. Her first choice is Frost! She’s preparing a CD for her jazz pre audition tomorrow with Brian. Any suggestions? She really likes the fact they have Music Ed with jazz emphasis as a major, as that is what she enjoys most. What is your major? She’s at school right now but I’ll give her your website so she can ask you questions. We’ll also tune in for the live feed tonight! We are from Shrewsbury, MA. She has her audition on Jan 30th…maybe we’ll see you then?!
    Have a great concert,
    Lynn Roy

    Hey there Lynn!

So great to find out that some people outside of Miami and my hometown of Chicago are finding my little niche here :) I’m so glad Meg is considering Frost and UMiami, it’s really an incredible place! I’m a Music Ed major also, and although I’m not in the MED/MSJ program (classical trumpet player), I played jazz all throughout High School, and was active in the jazz program last year in one of the jazz bands. This year, I’ve actually started my own big band, for UM students who aren’t necessarily jazz majors but who want to keep playing.

I’d be happy to answer any questions she might have about the Music Ed program, the Frost School of Music, or UM Life in general! I hope you enjoy the concert tonight, I’m sitting in the hall right now during the dress rehearsal, and the concert sounds like it will be great!

    Thanks!

    Andy

Don't you love the schedule of a music major!?!?! I remember having friends in University who had 2 classes every-other day, NEVER a class on Friday, and still were considered full time. Ah, you'll definitely succeed as a music educator if you can juggle all of this!
