One of the most important components to a successful marching arts ensemble is a strong student leadership team. While most programs – particularly high schools – have strong leaders, Andrew can help bring your leadership team to the next level through a one-day (or multi-day) leadership workshop. While each workshop can be customized to meet the specific needs or goals of your program, most workshops contain similar overall activities:
- Ice Breaker Activities to get your team working together and comfortable in creating an open discourse throughout the workshop.
- Leadership Discussions on a wide range of topics, using materials and proven techniques from Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser, and the nationally known Tarpon Springs HS Leadership and Music Conservatory.
- Role-Playing Scenarios to put students in real-life situations they will face as student leaders. These scenarios allow students to try – and then discuss afterwards – the best way to handle specific situations they will surely encounter throughout the season; doing this in a safe environment first will ensure that the results are positive when they find themselves in the “real life” situation!
- Mini-Show Activity to allow students to develop positive working relationships and understand the challenges faced by leaders and directors alike throughout the season.
These workshops have been successful with multiple programs across the country, and can help bring your student leadership team together to ensure a successful season. Want more information? Contact Andrew to start a conversation.
