I think the main reason that we got no air time was that whether or not they wanted to, the ESPN crews couldn't have gotten up to us since we were so far up in the stands. I think that reflects on the poor planning of the Emerald Bowl organization, though, rather than on ESPN.Thanks for your comment, though! I look forward to hearing your thoughts about the game!

I agree with a lot of what you say, Matt, I also heard that we sounded better and stronger than Cal. isPermaLink="false">http://andyzweibel.com/?p=244#comment-237

I would like to add a few other comments of my own regarding the Emerald Bowl staff, commity, group, whatever one would like to refer to it as. To begin, it took the band charter buses approximately 45 minutes to get to AT&T Park (where the game was). For reference, it took 10 minutes in the morning to drive by the stadium on the way to our practice field (san fran cc football stadium). The reason it took so long was because the cal band was parading down the street and slowing up traffic. I saw that they had police escorts, so I assume this was planned. Why didn't the emerald bowl staff offer us the chance to parade down the street blaring Miami U or North Dade???? I understand that cal is the "home team," but I know our director would have taken that invitation without a second thought. I also know that the emerald bowl commity has control of airtime and whatnot. I'm from California and have watched the Emerald Bowl almost every year. It's the only time one ever sees "Emerald Nuts" commercials. This is because they Emerald is sponsering the game and cause their business people are on the commity group thing. I watched the replay of the game on espn2 a few nights after the game. Cal recieved airtime for both pregame and halftime. The Band of the Hour recieved neither. WTF???? I would like to point out that espn had mics on both bands, as I heard both. I would like to point out that the Band of the Hour sounded much louder and was much clearer than the Cal Band. We were much more powerful than them. Oskie Bear should be weaping, but since his head is a dried up grapefruit, he clearly is too dehydrated to cry. I will have more when the recap of the game is added.

I would like to add a few other comments of my own regarding the Emerald Bowl staff, commity, group, whatever one would like to refer to it as.
